CONFERENCE PREPARATION VISIT TO UYO: On March 22, upon the arrival of the National Executive Committee (EXCO) team in Uyo, the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) Chairman, Prof. I. N. George, formally presented the hard copies of the conference flyers to the President, Prof. Ifelunni Ike. The visit was part of a verification exercise aimed at assessing the level of preparedness of the host city for the forthcoming conference scheduled to hold from August 16th to 21st. On the second day, March 23, the team, led by the LOC Chairman, visited Ibom Hall, the proposed venue for the conference, to inspect the available facilities. Several hotels were also visited to evaluate accommodation options for participants. During the inspection, additional requests were made, and the LOC assured the team of their commitment to making the conference a memorable experience. The LOC Chairman further led the team to the Nigeria Union of Journalists Secretariat, where they were received by the Chairman, Comrade Aniete John, at the NUJ building. A press briefing was held in the conference hall, during which the President highlighted three key purposes of the visit: to assess conference preparedness, to mark the Association’s 50th Golden Jubilee celebration in this significant period for Akwa Ibom State in her golden era and to solicit support towards the completion of the Counselling Association of Nigeria Secretariat building. Following a fruitful interaction aligned with the conference theme, the NUJ Chairman pledged support by ensuring wide publicity of the conference across various media platforms to enhance public awareness. The team also engaged in site-seeing activities around the city, capturing memorable moments through photographs. Throughout the visit, we were warmly received and well entertained. On this note we want to appreciate Prof I.N. George, LOC Chairman for his hospitality, we also thank Imoh Umoh LOC secretary who ensured our comfort, we thank Edidon Effiong the PRO, we thank Prf Felicia Modothe HOD Guidance and Counselling Department UNIUYO, the welfare officer Nsisong Udoh. On the third day, the team departed from Uyo to their various destinations, concluding a successful and impactful preparatory visit.
